If you have successfully completed the Registration process and received your Permanent Student ID, Congratulation !!! Now you are a Trainee Teacher of Affiliated Montessori International. Be serious about your training. You are going to be a Professional Montessori Teacher. You are going to be responsible for the lives of precious little children. Always keep it in mind. Your Training 1. Classroom Lectures 2. Practical Training Workshop 3. Independent Studies 4. Practical Training with Children 5. Examinations 1. Classroom Lectures The first day of lectures will be notified to you as soon as you complete your registration. Also you can see our news paper advertisement for the date of commencement. You can access our web site to find out the commencement date. It is important for you to attend all the lectures. You are required to attend minimum of 90 % lectures. If you are unable to attend any lecture, please inform the Colombo office or inform us by email. We may be able to arrange a makeup class for a small fee. Before you attend lectures, you will have to make the monthly payment at the beginning of each month. If you have not paid the monthly installment, you will not be able to come to the class. If you miss any class due to nun payment of monthly fees, you will not be granted any make up classes. You will loose the marks given for training attendance. You will be given a schedule of lectures. Some time the schedule can be changed according to different circumstances. Lectures are scheduled for 12 months period. Lectures will be conducted during the weekends. Practical workshop training will be conducted during week days. Printed Notes and demonstration diagrams are provided free of charge. If you wish you can bring your own paper and pencils or pens for taking notes from lectures. There will be demonstration of Montessori Apparatus for practical training. There will be lectures for theory and Child Psychology subjects. This course has been incorporate with a Child Psychology course. If you need to gain our Diploma in Child Psychology, you will have to offer extra additional subjects. If you are interested, please refer under child Psychology. You can qualify for Diploma in Child Psychology parallel to your Diploma in Montessori Method of Education. If you need further information, please email to us. Important It is important that all Trainee Teachers should observe the Colombo Montessori Teacher Training Center rules and regulations. All Trainee Teachers should maintain good discipline and conduct during lecture hours. If we find any trainee is not observing our rules and regulations we will terminate such trainees. We will not refund any money paid to the center to terminated trainees. It is important that trainee teachers should maintain good conduct and discipline because you are going to be examples to the children. At the end of each section of training, you will be tested. This testing will be counted for your final examination. If you come down in any sectional examination, you can re offer. Please make arrangements with your lecturer. 2. Practical Training Workshop Practical workshops are conducted four days a week during week days. It is necessary for Trainees to attend workshop training. Please contact your workshop lecturer to find out minimum number of workshop hours that you should cover. During the workshop training, the lecturer will demonstrate correct way of handling apparatus. You will be given opportunity to practice using Montessori Apparatus in the presence of the Workshop lecturer. If you make mistakes, the workshop lecturer will correct them. Until you are through with your material, you can practice. We do not recommend you to do practical training with the children until you are ready and gained confidence with your apparatus. Children should not be considered as your training material. You can not afford to make errors with the children. Children are precious to the parents and to the world. They can not be used as training instruments. Currently we do not charge extra for workshop training. Make use of this opportunity of using unlimited extra free training. We need you to be a Professional Montessori Teacher. Minimum number of work shop hours attendance recommended by the center will be counted for the final examination. 3. Independent Studies You are required to prepare a Montessori Teaching Project independently. We need to asses your knowledge and we need to asses how you will apply your knowledge to the child. All what you have studied should be used to construct this project. Every step of this project will be guided by your practical lecturer. This project work should be prepared like a book so that any time of your carrier you can refer to your training. We need our trainees to go to the world with confidence like expert professional teachers. You can construct the project at home. It is not done in the class room to save time and for you to make effort with your training. Your project work will be assessed and given marks. Marks will be counted for the final examination. This project work book is very important as a feed back to us to review our training. After the corrctions and marks we return the project work book back to the trainee. 4. Practical Training with Children We always ask you to be thorough with the Montessori material and equip with the knowledge of handling children. You will gain practical training through your practical classroom lectures and work shop training. You will learn how to handle children in Child Psychology studies. Once you are ready to handle children, we recommend you to start teaching children to gain practical training with the children. There is a minimum of hours training. You should cover the stipulated training hours with the children before your Diploma. Please contact your lecturer for detail or email to us. We do not recommend you to begin working with the children as soon as you commence your training. Your lecturer will inform you the time that you are ready. We can not use children as training material. They are precious. We can not teach children with trial and error. 5. Examinations There will be three intermediary examinations for practical training. Examinations are oral. Students should well prepared for these examinations to receive pass marks. There will be two examinations at the end of the training period. Child Psychology practical training. These two final examinations a written and oral. There will be an examination fees for each examination. You should pay the examination fees two weeks before the examination. Please note that every payment that you make to the bank, please do not fail to mention your Student ID Number. |
